Quino, creator of Mafalda, dies at the age of 88

Joaquín Salvador Lavado, known as Quino, died on September 30, 2020. He died at the age of 88. Daniel Divinsky, who was his editor, announced his death.

“Quino has died. All good people in the country and in the world will mourn him,” he wrote on Twitter. Members of Argentina’s political class mourned the death of the creator of the protestant girl. Also, national and international artists expressed words of affection for Quino.

“His words traveled across the Atlantic thanks to his vignettes and his peculiar sense of humor,” said the Royal Spanish Academy on its Twitter account.

Quino died in Luján de Cuyo. He suffered from health problems and a gradual deterioration for some time, local media reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the conflict in Ukraine is taking on the characteristics of a “global war,” warning that Russia might target Western nations supplying Ukraine with weapons used in attacks on Russian territory.
