In August, 24% of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. were among Hispanics

According to a U.S. government report, the Coronavirus death pattern change during the summer. They point out that during that period there was an increase in the percentage of deaths among Hispanics, and people in the South and West of the country.

The report analyzed those deaths related to COVID-19, recorded between May 1 and August 31. The report, released by the CDC, is an update of a previous report that focused on the mortality rates during the initial wave of the virus, earlier this year. Period that mainly affected the northeastern part of the United States.

The report shows that Hispanic deaths accounted for 24% of total deaths in August. In addition, it says that more than three-fifths of that month’s deaths were in southern states. And more than one-fifth were in the West. The report also highlights a decline in nursing home deaths. They went from 30% in May to 17% in August.

Zelenski urges global action after russian ballistic missile strike

Putin warns of escalation, suggests strikes on western weapon suppliers

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the conflict in Ukraine is taking on the characteristics of a “global war,” warning that Russia might target Western nations supplying Ukraine with weapons used in attacks on Russian territory.

These remarks come after a day of heightened tensions, during which Russia launched a state-of-the-art medium-range missile designed to carry a nuclear warhead. However, this particular missile was loaded with conventional explosives.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the missile strike, calling it the action of a “deranged neighbor” using Ukraine as a “military testing ground.”
