Canada announced on Thursday the inclusion of seven criminal organizations, including Mexican drug cartels, as terrorist groups, following the criteria of the United States.
The Minister of Public Security of Canada, David McGuinty, announced the measure today in Ottawa, one day after the Administration of US President Donald Trump formalized the inclusion of the Sinaloa, Jalisco New Generation, Northwest, Gulf, New Family Michoacana and United cartels in its list of terrorist groups.
Precisely this Thursday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced two reforms to the Constitution to protect the country against “foreign interference” in response to Trump’s decision to declare drug cartels terrorists.
